Decorating the individual panels at the Southampton Science and Engineering festival

Stitchers joined in to work on the Engaging with Proteins Canvas at the Southampton Science and Engineering festival 2017. The youngest stitcher was a 4 year old girl and did a fantastic job. Parents and grandparents joined in too. They were all very excited to be part of a communal art project. The scientists Halina Mikolajek, Cornelia Blume, Thanos Papakyriakou, Mary Beton and Sophia helped to get stitchers going and explained the different scientific depictions.

The individual panels have been assembled and you can see it here. I am very pleased with the canvas and I will be organising another event to do more stitching and chatting. Follow this blog if you want to watch the narratives of the canvas emerge.
